I had the pleasure of doing the highly rated Texas versus a good Wisconsin team at the Kohl Center, where Wisconsin coming into the game was 113-7 under Bo Ryan. They are very tough at home but Texas, under the guidance of Rick Barnes, played with poise in the last four minutes to squeak out the victory. While in Madison, I did a booksigning at the Hilldale Shopping Center. I was amazed by the over 200 Badger turnout considering the inclememt weather and the fact that the students were not in session.

I had a great visit in Memphis for two days. On Friday I began the day with a booksigning at the Memphis campus bookstore. The fans were enthusiastic and I had a blast mingling with them and signing copies of my new book. That evening I was the guest speaker at my buddy, John Calipari's, event. It was a super event that raised a lot of money for the Calipari Family Foundation, which aids disadvantaged children and provides educational scholarships for those in need.

The Foundation also donated $5,000 to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. On Saturday, I announced the Memphis/Syracuse game. Memphis lost a rare home game to a Jim Boeheim Syracuse team which made big plays down the stretch.

I am proud to be in my 8th year with the Hooters organization. Mike McNeil and all the people at Hooters have been so generous in their support of the V Foundation for Cancer Research. In the eight years, they are now at roughly $2,000,000 that they have donated to the V Foundation. I had a super time on Dec. 15th in Atlanta shooting a commercial for them. It was tough being surrounded by such pretty girls all day! Joining me in the photo shoot was Sarah Hoots, Ms. Hooters 2008. My wife joined me for the day long shoot and we had a super time. I can't thank Keith Johnson and Matt Perez of LEJ Sports enough. Look for the commercials in March Baby!

What a week for the Jimmy V Foundation! The week culminated with the Jimmy V Classic doubleheader at Madison Square Garden. The first match-up was West Virginia/Davidson. Stephen Curry was brilliant late in the game and was a key factor in Davidson's victory over the Mountaineers. I announced the Texas/Villanova match-up, in which Texas came out the winners. But the biggest winner of the night was by far the V Foundation which raised thousands of dollars in donations. They now have raised over $80,000,000 for research.

While in New York, I taped an hour long show with Michael Kay for Centerstage on the YES Network. The show will air on Jan. 26th on YES. The show is essentially a documentary on my life and career.

What a busy day in New York City! I joined Michael Wilbon, of ESPN's Pardon the Interruption, to host an all day satellite radio and tv tour on behalf of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The satellite tour was to promote awareness for prostate cancer. Michael and I were on countless shows across the country. The event culminated with a live audience of invited guests at the ESPN Zone in Times Square for a forum on prostate cancer. Joining us was Ted Danson, former Cheers TV star, D.L. Hughley, comic and TV host, Joe Theismann, former quarterback star, and Nick Valvano, with the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

I can't thank Robert Perry of GSK, Matthew Lalin of Star Power, and Michelle Schimmel and Kevin Davidson of Cohn & Wolfe enough. Their assistance in organizing this event was invaluable. It was first class and helped to raise awareness for a great cause - prostate cancer. I was proud to be a part of it.

I had my second game of the ACC/Big 10 Challenge - North Carolina at Michigan State. The game was actually played at Ford Field, home of this year's Final Four. North Carolina showed why they are #1 in the country with dominating performances by Tyler Hansborough and Ty Lawson. Before the game, I had a lot of fun doing a booksigning at the Grosse Pointe Barnes and Nobles. It was great to see so many of my friends who stopped by from the Titan and Piston days. Also stopping by was University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball coach, Ray McCallum. I had a terrific time talking with everyone!

I was in Purdue to announce the ACC/Big 10 Challenge game of Duke vs. Purdue. Duke dominated the game and is now 10-0 in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. Before the game, I had a signing at the University of Purdue campus bookstore.

The fans were thrilled for the big match-up and it was great getting to spend some time with them before the game.
