The British Open provided lots of drama. Tiger Woods was back in contention for a major championship. He actually led in the final round before fading a bit.

Francesco Molinari won the championship, becoming the first Italian to win a major. He beat out a star-studded group of contenders, including defending champion Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Kevin Kisner, to name a few.

Another great sports week...

France won the World Cup, a sporting event embraced by millions worldwide. The French beat Croatia in the finals, 4-2.

Wimbledon concluded with Novak Djokovic and Angelique Kerber winning the title. It was a great event and the men's semifinals were memorable for very long matches.

It was another great week in sports.

Wimbledon saw a ton of upsets as nine of the top 10 seeded women made it through the first week. Serena Williams moved on as she is alive in the hunt for a 24th Grand Slam title. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are still going strong on the men’s side.

The World Cup Final Four is set. France, Belgium, England and Croatia are still in the hunt.

The NBA summer league got underway as DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Bagley, Trae Young and a solid rookie class got under way. Don’t get carried away with all the stats from NBA summer league action.

It was another great weekend in sports.

The big news broke on Sunday night. King James decided to sign with the Lakers. LeBron agreed to a four-year deal, and the Western Conference got even stronger. The Warriors-Lakers rivalry will intensify with four regular-season meetings between James and Kevin Durant.

The World Cup saw two Sunday games got to penalty kicks. Talk about drama, baby! Who would have thought Russia would make the quarterfinals and Germany, Argentina, Spain, Portugal and Italy would not.

Baseball has been heating up. The Rays did a great job vs. the defending World Series champion Astros. Tampa Bay even beat Justin Verlander. The Yankees and Red Sox renewed the best rivalry in sports.

There was more NBA news as free agency got under way. Kevin Durant, Chris Paul. And Paul George re-signed with their respective teams. Trevor Ariza went to Phoenix, DeAndre Jordan to Dallas.
