The NFL postseason got under way. I was really impressed with Andrew Luck and the Colts, with an impressive win at Houston. The Chargers hung on to beat the Ravens in Baltimore. The Cowboys got past the Seahawks.
The college football championship game is set. Alabama and Clemson head West.
The Tide outscored Oklahoma while Clemson was too good against Notre Dame. Trevor Lawrence dominated the Irish.
College bowl season is heating up with the playoffs this week. Notre Dame faces Clemson and Alabama meets Oklahoma.
I was really impressed with North Carolina. Solid passing, a great job on the boards and the Tar Heels beat Gonzaga. It was the first back-to-back losses for the Zags since 2014.
The Steelers got a huge win over the Patriots. Ben Roethlisberger and company needed that one and the defense stopped tom Brady late.
The Chicago Bears won their first division title since 2010. Chicago beat Green Bay to lock it up.
It was another great sports week.

In the NFL, the Packers were upset by the Cardninals and it cost Mike McCarthy his job.

In the NFL, the Saints showed a lo in a blowout of the defending champion Eagles. The Texans won their seventh straight game. He Steelers rallied from a 16-0 deficit to make it six in a row.
The tennis world saw Alexander Zverev beat Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to capture the ATP Championship in London.
College basketball got underway. Duke was impressive against Kentucky. Florida State dominated Florida. Auburn blew out Washington.
There were also upsets. Stony Brook beat South Carolina. Buffalo stunned West Virginia. Texas Southern knocked off Baylor. Furman stunned Loyola-Chicago.
College football saw most of the big boys win again. Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan and Georgia moved closer to the college football playoff.
The NFL saw the Saints win their eighth in a row. The Rams and Chiefs also won to remain impressive.
The NBA saw the Toronto Raptors move to 12-1. This has been an impressive start for Kawhi Leonard and company.

Congrats to the Boston Red Sox. The World Series champions lost just three playoff games against the trio of the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers.

There were plenty of surprises in college football last weekend. Georgia, Penn State, West Virginia, Washington and Auburn all lost.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams remained unbeaten. Kansas City was impressive against an injury-plagued Jacksonville squad.
This is turning into an exciting season at South Bend.
The Irish found a special running back in Dexter Williams. Ian Book has taken over as a solid quarterback. Brian Kelly has a legitimate contender for a playoff berth.
Also over the weekend, Europe dominated the Ryder Cup. Fraceseco Molinari went 5-0 in the win. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson failed to earn a point.
Tiger Woods won a PGA Tour event for the first time since 2013, winning The Tour Championship. It was his first victory in over 1800 days.
It was another wild weekend in college football.
LSU got a big win at Auburn. Ohio State fought hard and beat TCU. Wisconsin was stunned at home by BYU. Florida State was humiliated by Syracuse. Nebraska lost to Troy.
Maryland fell at home to Temple. Arkansas got blitzed at home by North Texas.Northwestern lost to Akron.
Notre Dame got a win over Vanderbilt. I predicted that the Commodores would not be cupcake city.
In the NFL, Tampa Bay moved to 2-0 for the first time since 2010 as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for over 400 yards. Patrick Mahomes had six TD passes vs. the Steelers.
It was a great weekend in sports.

Alabama rolled again. Notre Dame and Florida State struggled. The Patriots won. The Bucs stunned the Saints.
The one thing that stood out was the US Open women’s final. Fans booed at the end and it took away from a great championship performance.
It is so sad the US Open women’s championship will be remembered for the controversy involving Serena Williams. Naomi Osaka was brilliant in winning the title. She deserves a lot of credit. I thought that Serena should have been warned before a game penalty was given.
Novak Djokovic beat Juan Martin DelPotro in straight sets to win the men’s title. It was a great tournament.
