Community Activities

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with a four day getaway to Asheville, NC.  This was our first trip to this beautiful city.  We stayed and relaxed at the Grove Park Inn.  President Obama has actually stayed at this Inn twice before.  We went to downtown Asheville to enjoy several restaurants including, Vinzenzo's and Modesto's.  We also dined at The Horizon's at the Grove Park Inn, a 4 star restaurant.  We also took a tour of the Biltmore Mansion, which was previously owned by George Vanderbilt.  His grandfather, who was nicknamed Commodore Vanderbilt, founded Vanderbilt University.  That is why the Vanderbilt mascot is called the Commodore's.  We also visited The Basilica Catholic Church downtown, which had stunning stained glass windows and breath-taking architecture.  My wife and I spent time at the gorgeous spa and truly had a wonderful, relaxing few days to celebrate this milestone.
