July 2009

Journal July 24-28, 2009

What a few days we had in the Big Apple, NYC. I went with my wife and my daughter, her husband and three children to spend a few days taking in all the excitement of NYC. We enjoyed several Broadway shows with the grandchildren, including Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid. We also went to the new Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees plays the Oakland A's. Before the game we got a tour of the new stadium. What an incredible place! It is like a museum. They did a tremendous job showcasing all the history and magic of the Yankee past.

The grandkids got the biggest thrill meeting Manager Joe Girardi and Mariano Riveria before the game. The people at the Yankees front office could not have treated us any nicer. We were given the opportunity to go inside the private suite of George Steinbrenner. What an amazing suite - words can not do it justice. While inside we ran into Giants Football Coach, Tom Coughlin.

We also got to see two games at the new Citi Field, home of the Mets. It is also a beautiful stadium, with all the best amentities. We got to sit in the dugout before the game and go on the field. The grandkids met David Wright and even got signed bats from him.

They also got autographs and pictures with pitching star, Johan Santana.

It was truly a wonderful experience for all of us! While in NYC we also spent time at the beautiful St. Patrick's Cathedral and did a rooftop view of the city from on top of the GE Building in Rockefeller Center. NYC is a special city with so much to do. I was glad to be able to enjoy those few days with my family!

I made a two day visit with my wife to Boston, MA. During our visit we got a chance to see the Boston Red Sox play the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park. What a special place that is! It is always a thrill going to that Park.

I had a ball joking around with Big Papi and all the players. My colleagues from ESPN, Josh Krulewitz and Howie Schwab, joined Lorriane and I at the games. A fun two days in a great city!
